ABOUT

Restore Sleep Medicine

I created Restore Sleep Medicine to put the Doctor-Patient relationship at the center of medical care while evaluating and treating sleep disorders in a timely and compassionate manner. After decades of clinical care in the medical insurance-driven framework, I became frustrated with how evaluations and care needed to fit into shorter office visits and frustrating administrative processes. Listening, respect, and trust should drive medical evaluations and treatment.

Patients deserve timely access to testing and therapy. Options should be presented for treatment with time to discuss the alternatives. I am committed to working together to find a solution that is unique to you.

Dr. Jacobs

I came to Sleep Medicine in 2000 after years of clinical care in Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine and Internal Medicine. Sleep Medicine was a relatively new field at that time, and I recognized the unique opportunity to teach patients about sleep disorders and to treat them by collaborating on a solution. This was long before wearables provided sleep insights to consumers!

ABOUT

My approach starts with getting a full picture of the sleep issue and how it impacts you.

Most of the time, a sleep test will provide specific data to stratify health risks and direct treatment. I use the most current, evidence-based research to guide my recommendations in the context of your unique situation. I embrace both new innovations and complementary approaches. We are partners in your care to restore your sleep and daytime function.

Professional Interests

I have special interest in helping women with less common presentations find the answers to their symptoms of non-restful sleep and poor daytime function. We are now learning how sleep diagnoses may present differently in women due to the lack of research on women’s health. I am particularly concerned about trying to identify sleep problems in pregnant women, or women pre-conception, so that risks during pregnancy are minimized and so that sleep, especially with a newborn, can be optimized. I am the Medical Director of the Seattle Sleep Institute, an accredited, independent sleep testing facility, which is dedicated to clinical sleep research.

Personal interests

While being a physician provides me with great purpose, I am more than a doctor. I have always participated in choral music, currently singing with the Seattle Choral Company. I appreciate rejuvenating time in nature by hiking the beautiful trails in Bellevue and the region. I enjoy cooking, which I have heard described as moving meditation, and appreciate that the resulting meal brings people together. My husband is an avid cyclist, and our daughter and I often travel with him as van support.
